good car, good memories (May '09)

With the change in
economy, we've had 1 or 2 people knocking on our door almost every week -- for months on end -- asking if our VW Jetta is for sale.  At one point we seriously considered selling it.  So we cleaned it up and took pictures in front of it.  (That's what everyone does before selling their car, right? :)  But as we thought about it, we remembered....  This was the first car we bought together as newlyweds.  The one we brought Lucas and Destany home from the hospital in.  It was our only car for the first 7 years of our marriage, and it served us well.  So.....we're not selling it.  To our credit, those are not really the reasons we abandoned that plan.  We had assumed that, being a '94 with fairly high miles, it would need a good amount of work done on it soon.  But a thorough check found only two issues that will cost less than $600 total to fix.  So the Jetta will be around for a little while longer.
Although this picture doesn't do it justice, the color is that of a
grape Skittle.  As I'm sure you know, that is a rare and valuable color when it comes to vehicles.  So rather than selling it to someone who might not treasure it the way it deserves, I think I'll email my online friend Julie when we're ready to part with our car.  Somehow I think she'd appreciate it a little more than the average pers

Bedtime stories w/ Uncle Archie (April '09)

I think the kids assume Uncle Archie came *all the way* from Scotland just to play with them!  Hmmmm.....where could they have gotten that idea?  Oh, that's right.  I think brothers and sister and I thought the same thing!
We love you, Uncle Archie, and hope to see you again soon!

more roly poly bugs (April '09)

Apparently it's not only Lucas who likes them!
Destany has found her own 'pet' now.....

bird watching (April '09)

Early one morning, Lucas came running into our bedroom after seeing a woodpecker kicking some sparrows out of their nest in the neighbor's attic.  The only way to keep it away was to sit out there and scare it away every time it came near!  Lucas and Destany were quite happy to take on this responsibility.

roly poly habitat (April '09)

I remember having 'pet' roly poly bugs as a kid,
and making homes for them.  Now it's Lucas' turn!

Do you see the little roly poly on the left side?
